How Can Site Regeneration Improve Communal Grounds?
Site Regeneration Underway at Falcons Estate, Clapham Junction

Well-maintained planted areas can make a huge difference to the appearance and overall feel of a residential development. When flowerbeds become tired, overgrown, or unsuitable for the space, regeneration works can help restore structure, improve plant health, and create a more attractive environment for residents. Grass Barbers is currently carrying out this type of improvement work at Falcons Estate in Clapham Junction.
1. Removing and Reusing Existing Planting
As part of the regeneration works, we removed the existing vegetation from the raised flowerbeds. Wherever possible, suitable plants were carefully relocated to other areas of the grounds so they could be reused elsewhere on site. This helps reduce waste while making the most of existing planting material.
2. Improving Soil Conditions
Healthy planting starts with good soil. Before introducing new plants, we improved the soil conditions within the beds to create a better foundation for long-term growth. This step is essential in helping new planting establish properly and perform well throughout the seasons.
3. Adding Bio Humus, Root Growth Fertiliser, and Perlite
To support the regeneration of the beds, we incorporated bio humus, root growth fertiliser, and perlite into the soil. These materials help enrich the growing environment, encourage strong root development, and improve drainage — all important factors in creating healthy, sustainable planting areas.
4. Supplying a New Selection of Perennial Plants
Once the beds were prepared, we supplied and planted a fresh selection of perennial plants. These were chosen to improve the appearance of the raised flowerbeds around the two high-rise buildings and provide a more structured, attractive display throughout the year.
5. Continuing Improvements Through the Maintenance Season
This project is part of a wider programme of improvement at Falcons Estate. As we move further into the maintenance season, we will continue progressing onto other flowerbeds across the site, helping to steadily improve the overall landscape and presentation of the grounds.
