Vegetation Clearance and Grounds Maintenance at GEODIS TW14
Keeping a large logistics site tidy takes more than occasional grass cutting. Busy commercial grounds need regular attention to vegetation, litter, leaves and weeds so that outdoor areas remain presentable, manageable and ready for future improvements. We recently provided an initial vegetation clearance and grounds maintenance service for GEODIS at its logistics hub in TW14.

The first visit focused on bringing several areas under control. Our gardening team shaped the hedges, removed a large amount of built-up litter and cleared accumulated leaves from the grounds. We also arranged for a PA1 and PA6 certified operator to apply herbicide, helping prepare the site for suggested future improvements.
Why commercial grounds need a planned approach
Large business premises often have a mixture of planted areas, boundary hedges, service routes, car parks and unused or less visible corners. These spaces can quickly collect wind-blown rubbish and fallen leaves, while weeds and unwanted vegetation gradually spread into paths, edges and beds.
On a logistics site, presentation is only one part of the picture. Clear, well-maintained grounds are easier to inspect and manage, and they create a more orderly setting for staff, visitors, contractors and deliveries. A practical maintenance plan also helps separate immediate clearance work from longer-term landscaping improvements.
Hedge shaping and vegetation clearance
Overgrown hedges can make boundaries look untidy and may begin to encroach on access routes or nearby planted areas. During our visit, we shaped the hedges to give them a neater appearance and bring their growth back under control.

Vegetation clearance is not simply a matter of cutting everything back. We look at what needs to be retained, what is obstructing the site and which areas may benefit from improvement later. This makes the initial work more useful and avoids treating every part of the grounds in the same way.
Removing built-up litter and leaves
A large amount of litter and leaf matter had collected around the GEODIS grounds. Left in place, this can hide the condition of the soil and hard surfaces, make planted areas difficult to assess and leave the site looking neglected.
Clearing this material gives maintenance teams a cleaner starting point. It also makes it easier to identify areas where weeds, self-seeded growth or damaged planting may need attention. For commercial grounds, regular litter and leaf clearance is an important part of keeping the whole site looking cared for, not just the most visible entrance.

Responsible herbicide application
As part of the preparation work, a PA1 and PA6 certified operator applied herbicide. These qualifications are relevant to the safe and responsible use of pesticides, including applications in outdoor and amenity areas.
Herbicide should never be treated as a substitute for good grounds maintenance. It is one tool within a wider plan and must be used carefully, in line with the product label, site requirements and suitable application conditions. Used as part of a considered approach, it can help prepare difficult areas for future clearance, planting or landscaping work.
Preparing for future improvements
The initial visit at GEODIS created a clearer foundation for suggested future improvements. Once excess vegetation, litter and leaves have been dealt with, it becomes easier to decide how different areas should be managed.
- Which boundaries need ongoing hedge trimming?
- Where would regular leaf and litter clearance make the biggest difference?
- Which areas could be improved through planting or landscaping?
- Where is weed control needed to support future maintenance?

For businesses, landlords and site managers across South London and Surrey, this staged approach can be more practical than trying to complete every improvement at once. Start with a thorough clearance, understand the condition of the grounds and then build a maintenance plan around the site’s needs.
Our work at GEODIS in TW14 shows how vegetation clearance, hedge shaping, litter removal, leaf clearance and qualified weed control can work together. If your commercial grounds need bringing back under control, get in touch with us for a free quote and keep your site looking its best.
