Commercial Grounds Maintenance Project in Richmond TW10
Richmond, TW10
The Challenge
A corporate development organisation managing a recently refurbished private school in Richmond required a targeted weed control solution to address invasive growth affecting hard surfaces.
The issue involved grass and shrub roots spreading into the tarmac, causing surface disruption and creating ongoing maintenance challenges. Immediate intervention was required to prevent further deterioration and ensure clean, defined boundaries between soft and hard landscaping.
Before :

The Solution
Grass Barbers carried out a site evaluation and implemented a structured weed removal and control programme. The team used professional edging tools including lawn edgers, edging knives, spades and hoes to redefine clean lawn edges and expose root systems.
All invasive weeds and underlying root material were manually removed, creating a clear separation between lawn areas and hard surfaces. This process established a physical root barrier, reducing the likelihood of future encroachment.
A City & Guilds qualified operative then applied a targeted herbicide treatment to control regrowth and ensure longer-term effectiveness. Throughout the project, over 1 tonne of organic waste was removed from site.
The Result
Grass Barbers successfully restored clean, defined edges between landscaped and hard surfaces, eliminating invasive growth and protecting the integrity of the tarmac areas.
The site now benefits from a controlled, low-maintenance environment, with preventative measures in place to reduce future weed issues and support ongoing grounds maintenance efficiency.
