Caterham is a commuter town in the Tandridge District of Surrey. Over 22 000 people live in Caterham area, which splits into two administrative regions of Caterham On The Hill and Caterham Valley. The town centre is located in the dry valley and lies close to A22 one of the working links connecting M25 motorway and Croydon town.
Caterham Cars any petrolhead from around the world will know Caterham Cars, which is British lightweight sports cars manufacturer, located in Caterham, with its headquarters in Crawley. Back in 1960’s Caterham Cars was the dominant Lotus model 7 dealer, later company purchased the rights to continue building model 7. Owners of the company became pioneers of British Kit Car industry. With client finances in mind, Caterham Cars realised producing a kit car, where the client can build a car himself, will save customers a new car tax in the UK. Until 1987 car showroom and factory were located in Caterham, but in 1987 production moved to Dartford and administration is currently operated from Crawley.
St John’s Church is a Grade II listed building, built back in 1881, and it was designed by architect William Bassett Smith. The church is welcoming, friendly and spacious, with some memorials for local people. Most of the windows are Victorian; stained glass is of a high standard of artistry, they give an excellent impression of colour and reverence. The main Organ of the church was built in 1883, by one of the finest Victorian organ builders in UK J W Walker & Sons of London. The bells are made of a beautiful ring of eight, which have been manufactured by various makers.
