Colliers Wood is located in South West London and administered by London Borough of Merton Council. Not so extremely overcrowded residential area is home of approximately 11 000 londonners. Colliers wood, however, is famous for 2 large shopping two destinations, which are Tandem Centre and the Priory Retail Park.
Colliers Wood is one of The Northern Line underground network stops. The actual tube station building was designed by architect Charles Holden back in 1926, which is used by over 6.5 Million local commuters to get them in and out of busy suburb.
We also have a Merton Abbey Mills, located on the bank of river Wandle. It is historically known location as a former textile factory, which was later converted to textile printing works.
Another environmental adventure in Colliers Wood, which attracts nature and local landscape lovers, is Wandle Trail, it follows the route of River Wandle. Its heaven for fishing fanatics, who can be seen spending hours and hours fly fishing.
Opposite the colliers Wood Underground station we have Wandle Park, which is a great urban park to have a picnic, take kids outdoors or simply take your dog for a walk.
In 1802, Merton’s one of the most famous resident, Admiral Horatio Nelson, purchased Merton Place from the widow of Charles Greaves with its large estate, for £9,000. Unfortunately, Nelson had only a short time to enjoy his new home in Colliers Wood before his death at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.
